The Garnet Rod is a long staff-like weapon held by Sailor Pluto.

Appearance

The Garnet Rod in Sailor Moon S

The Garnet Rod is roughly 5 feet tall (though it varies depending on the animator) and is a long silver staff broken up into 8 segments connected by silver orbs.

The third and sixth segments have detailing mimicking a key on their sides. The top of the Garnet Rod originally had a simple top that split open into four points, that the Crystal Ball would sit on.

When Sailor Pluto returns in Sailor Moon S, the top of the Garnet Rod has been redesigned with 8 slender tubes that curve upwards, to hold the Crystal Ball (which is now removable).

Sailor Pluto uses the Garnet Rod as a melee weapon. When Sailor Moon arrives at the Gate of Time, Sailor Pluto begins to attack by using the Garnet Rod. While facing the Daimon Uhenshu, Sailor Pluto can deflect its attack by spinning the Garnet Rod.

The Garnet Rod is used in Sailor Moon R to send the Sailor Scouts into Rini's dream and open the Time Gate.

Trista can summon the Garnet Rod while not transformed and use its powers alongside the Crystal Ball.

• The Garnet Rod is always held by Sailor Pluto in every appearance, except for "Mimet's Mess", where it is not seen.
• The color of the Garnet Rod changes from silver to lavender, depending on the animator.
